Think about the meaning of the word “restraint.” Does it mean always being rigid and unforgiving, of others as well as yourself? Or, does it mean you learn how to rein in your impulses and urges so you avoid doing damage to your body? You can make a lot of headway now by trying to balance the forces of indulgence with a little bit of common sense. Make commitments to work out a certain number of times each week, and force yourself to stick to your schedule. You can be flexible, but you also have to remain firm about your resolve. The good news is that you’re fired up and filled with energy. The bad news is that, unless you channel it effectively, you can suffer from the effects of being over-stimulated and highly willful. Injury, illnesses involving infection or fever or explosive displays of temper are not things you want to have in your life. Want to avoid all these bad things? Get out your physical energy in productive ways so it doesn’t lead you to hasty action in your personal or professional dealings. If you feel irritable or aggravated at any point today, take some deep breaths. Simply making that connection between your mind and body will allow you to avoid exploding with anger.
